PIXEL REEL BEGINNER GUIDE
From your first cast at Willow Pond to tournament podiums — how to progress fast in Pixel Reel.
1. LEARN THE CAST
Tap anywhere in the water — farther casts reach deeper, rarer fish. Watch for the sparkling hot spot (it moves every few minutes): casting inside it boosts rare odds by 35%. When the bobber dips, tap fast, then hold to reel and release when the line reddens.
2. SPEND COINS IN THE RIGHT ORDER
- Locations first. Each new location multiplies every coin you earn by 1.5x.
- Gear at about 10% of your next unlock. Rod widens the bite window, Line slows tension, Lure boosts rares, Auto-Reel and Snap Gauge automate catches.
- The Auto-Net fishes while you're away — upgrade it before you sleep.
3. USE MOB FISHING FOR XP
The tanker on the Career page is the fastest XP in the game. Throw your cast onto the swarm, then ride the jumping green zone — staying locked builds a combo up to 1.5x. Ranks raise your mob coin rate, so XP now means coins later.
4. CHASE THE SIDE CONTENT
- Treasure hunts: messages in bottles chain into clue trails ending in pirate chests.
- Megalodon: a 3% boss fight — keep the needle in the green for 20 seconds.
- Daily boating trips: a 20-minute checklist cruise with scaled rewards.
- Weekend events: Starry Surge, Mob Rush, Bottle Tide and Spotlight rotate weekly.
5. HOW TO CATCH STARRY FISH
You must catch a species' normal form before its Starry can appear. Complete a location's 25/25 to improve your starry odds by 25% — mastered waters are also, quietly, the best Dee's Lost Rod odds in the game. Starry catches cannot be ad-doubled; they don't need it.
6. JOIN A LAGOON DAILY
Lagoon fishing earns about a quarter of your best location's rate for zero effort — perfect while you chat. Flip every boot-coin you find: heads is nothing, tails is 50,000 coins, and if it lands on its side, Dee's Lost Rod is yours.
